An "engawa" is a low deck positioned just outside the entrance to a room or building.

Typically, such decks are made of wooden planks, and are raised on stones or foundations to keep the inhabitants above the rain, mud and snow. Some may completely surround certain kinds of buildings, such as a garden pavilion, while others run alongside a set of rooms, and others serve just as a "front porch."

An engawa may be covered (like a "veranda") or may be positioned so that a portion lies under the eaves of the roof.

The kits here are made in sections and have left and right corners. There is a front faceplate on each section. There are spare faceplates and foundations, should your engawa need to change level to fit changing terrain elevations. Each kit has some wooden step pieces as well.

To use them, make multiple copies of the pieces you need and then place them around your room or building.
