Five paintings of famous 12th Century samurai in the Battles of Awazu, Ichinotai and others. Paintings are of the Heike Monogatari (two paintings of Tomoe Gozen and her husband Minamoto Yoshinaka, one of Yoshinaka alone), one from the Taiheiki of Nitta Yoshisada (the legendary scene at the beach where he offers his katana to the sea), and one from the Nomai no Zu, of Ushiwaka-maru and Sojobo. A short included document describes these further. Sample
The gold leaf and mineral oil paintings were made in the 18th Century by an unknown artist as a series in an album, but most of the others did not stand the ravages of time.
Each scroll is carefully made with exacting wood, paper and individual ribbon details. Each scroll can be used in close-up views.
Please note that the papers used for the scroll bodies, and the wood textures are copyrighted and cannot be used for purposes other than application to these models. The paintings are without copyright and may be freely used for other projects.
