Shinto Shrine of the kind first developed early in Japanese history. This is a small shrine that typically would be found in a forest setting or high on a mountain.

The shrine is of the earliest style known as "O-yashiro zukuri" of the "Tsuma-iri" type. This kind of building was common in Japan before people came into contact with Buddhism, and began to change the styles of temples under the influence of Buddhist architecture.

The model comes with four items that would be found in such a shrine: a detailed metal Dragonfly Lantern, in both old bronze and green bronze versions. A "shimenawa" with "goheii" is included. A "shimenawa" is a "sacred rope" made of rice straw.

The interior of the shrine contains a "kami home" and a porcelain saki cup.
