Exact scale model of the zashiki room a house was built by a samurai, who as his fortunes dwindled, became a famous doctor.

This house is the only intact representative from the Tokugawa Era . The Readme file gives the history of the house.

The room modeled is the "zashiki"of the house, which means formal reception area - a place where the samurai received guests, conducted tea ceremony, and practiced medicine.

The room has five sliding shoji on the wall facing the exterior, and three on the opposite wall leading into the central hall. The shoji can be repositioned as needed. The fusuma (closet) doors move. The ceiling can be removed for scene-building. Articles found in the original room (brazier, gold silk brazier screen, antique glass light, etc.) are included.
