Sasaella is a low-lying, ground-cover type of bamboo growing in tropical and semi-tropical areas.

In some areas of Japan, certain forms of sasaella are often trained into a tree form, a process that takes several years. Here is a bonsai that has been crafted in this same slow and careful fashion.

Leaves, twigs and the long stems that form the trunk are individually modelled and carefully textured.
