| This is a scale model of a the classic Japanese garden gate.
This gate has a set of traditional proportions that are more than two centuries old. The support posts and beams are relatively thin, compared to the main framework of the gate, as are the vertical slats in the gate doors. The tops of the support posts are curved toward the gate frame, and these match the curves of the roof support beams. The shingle roof rests on battens, joists and three long beams. The gates in this model have pivot points in the hinge areas.
The package includes the gate, a bench, a standard straight and a standard corner fence section and a high resolution tsukubai with bamboo dipper. A tsukubai is used to wash one's hands and face before entering the garden.
A separate 'add-on' kit contains six alternative patterned gates for this unit.
