This package contains our three most popular wagasa patterns for women. A wagasa is the traditional oiled paper and lacquered bamboo umbrella. The lacquered ribs are located on top of the paper.

The swirling pattern of the papers on two of these models comes from a time when smaller wagasa were used by geisha in dance. All three of these wagasa are made of very delicately constructed papers with washi fiber bases and gold leaf or the green and white bamboo washi. Handles and ribs are colored appropriately.

All parts of the wagasa are modeled, except for the intricate basketry or cotton stringing appearing inside the wagasa at the base of the ribs. All 50 ribs and struts, and the bamboo pole are modeled correctly on these wagasa and the papers are accurate washi textures.
